EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – A five-year wheat procurement arrangement between the UAE and Egypt has been activated, with a total value reaching up to US$500 million. Al Dahra Agriculture Trading will provide imported wheat to Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities under this agreement. The financing for these transactions is facilitated through the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. This framework, established in 2023, sets the terms for wheat transactions between Al Dahra and GASC over the next five years.

The signing took place on August 26, 2026, at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein. Egyptian Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk attended as GASC chairman, alongside Al Dahra’s co-founder and managing director Khadim Abdullah Al Darei. Officials did not specify the volume of wheat covered, nor did they reveal delivery timelines, shipment origins, annual purchase targets, or pricing details for individual transactions.
This arrangement builds upon a financing initiative announced by the UAE and Egypt in August 2023. Under that framework, ADEX extended US$100 million in revolving credit for wheat and other critical commodities. Designed for annual renewal over five years, this facility could support up to US$500 million in total financing. Egypt’s ministries of finance and international cooperation participated in the original plan alongside GASC. The new agreement clarifies how Al Dahra will supply wheat through that existing financing channel.
Five-year plan advances into wheat supply phase
ADEX, as Abu Dhabi Fund for Development’s export-financing arm, supports purchases related to UAE exporters. Its 2023 deal with Egyptian authorities covered wheat and other vital commodities supplied by Al Dahra. The revolving credit structure allows renewal each year during the five-year span. This new agreement does not establish an additional US$500 million facility but rather provides the commercial framework for GASC to buy imported wheat from Al Dahra using the existing ADEX financing.
Since 2007, Al Dahra has operated farms in Egypt, including locations in Toshka and East Oweinat. In 2023, the company reported cultivating approximately 28,000 hectares and supplying over 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government over the previous three years. About 85% of its Egyptian farm production was directed to local markets, according to Al Dahra. The company now manages an agricultural platform serving over 40 markets worldwide.
Imported wheat procurement remains tied to ADEX financing
The recent agreement signed in El Alamein pertains to imported wheat supplied to GASC, though Al Dahra also produces crops domestically. In 2023, the company identified itself as Egypt’s largest private wheat and corn producer. The new pact relates to a separate import channel supported by UAE export financing. GASC continues to oversee procurement for Egypt. Neither GASC nor Al Dahra has disclosed the total tonnage of wheat covered by this five-year arrangement.
The total value of the program is capped at up to US$500 million over five years under the 2023 framework. The parties have not released a detailed shipment schedule, nor specified which countries will supply the wheat. They also have not revealed the pricing formula for individual purchases. As of August 27, 2026, the agreement formalizes the link between Al Dahra’s wheat supplies to GASC via the ADEX financing program, marking the operational phase of the five-year deal.
