SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / –  Samsung Electronics revealed its eighth-generation foldable lineup during the global Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, unveiling three models: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant showcased refreshed hardware designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated AI features across all three devices. This announcement marks the official debut of the Ultra label within Samsung’s foldable device range, aimed at enterprise users with a record-thin foldable profile of 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a reimagined form factor, weighing just 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable phone in the company’s history. It sports a 10:16 aspect ratio on the cover display and a 4:3 ratio on the main screen, allowing for versatile content consumption such as browsing, reading, and video viewing. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and can reach 3,000 nits peak brightness under Vision Booster technology. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it includes a 4,800 mAh battery.

To improve durability while maintaining a slim profile, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for its premium foldables. The architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate to absorb impacts, distribute mechanical stress, and minimize visible creasing over many folding cycles. Adjustments to hinge tension, magnetic force, and display panel tension were made to ensure smoother opening actions. For outdoor use, a low-reflection finish is applied to preserve color vibrancy in bright conditions.

    Enhanced Hardware and Productivity Features

The flagship Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands its display area to an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen alongside a 6.5-inch cover screen. Designed for intensive multitasking and media editing, the Ultra model is equipped with a 200-megapixel primary sensor with High Dynamic Range, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto unit. It supports 8K video recording with the APV codec and features Cine LUT color management tools for professional-grade video editing workflows.

The internal hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra includes an advanced graphite cooling system designed for better thermal management during demanding tasks. It is powered by a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery paired with a 45W dual-path fast-charging system that efficiently distributes power across both cells. Performance options include up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

    Software Intelligence and Launch Timeline

Alongside the larger foldables, Samsung introduced the compact Galaxy Z Flip8, which measures 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighs 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main screen, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. All three foldable models benefit from software features powered by AI tools developed in collaboration with Google, such as Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which assist with workflow automation, file summarization, and app navigation.

Availability for the Galaxy Z Fold8 series begins immediately with global pre-orders following the Unpacked event, with retail shipments starting on August 7, 2026. Pricing starts at $1,899.99 for the Galaxy Z Fold8, with the Ultra and Flip8 models reflecting updated pricing based on regional markets. This launch supports Samsung’s strategy to promote foldable technology adoption across both high-end consumer and enterprise sectors worldwide.
